Will I lose my Cerb4 configuration if I use the migration tools?

We've considered that people often like to do a bit of evaluation and experimentation before importing their real data. The migration tools simply import tickets as raw e-mail, KB articles as XML and address book contacts as CSV files. We did it this way so things were atomized -- meaning you could play around all you want with Cerb4 and then bring the data in later without overwriting anything. Those universal formats also mean you just have to write exporters from other systems and not importers.

With tickets, they'll come through the parser with special headers as if they were just downloaded from a POP3 box. They'll follow the new routing rules you set up.

But there's also a custom header on those messages with the name of your Cerb3 queue where they used to reside. So that means you could also just import everything in a huge pile, and then use Cerb4's "Super Sorter" feature to group things by that header ("X-CerberusImportPile") to organize them retroactively. That latter approach is what we recommend, because it's easier to just funnel tickets to your new Groups and let them do a second Super Sort to organize them further into buckets. It means you don't have to be an omnipotent administrator when importing -- you don't really need to care where things will ultimately end up.
